About this deal

The Art of Remembrance is another tour de force from the American Muslim poet, a rich collection of verse steeped in the metaphysical language of Islamic spirituality, with a subliminal Hip-Hop heartbeat. Also involved with those efforts was a French woman, Anna Guérin who was in the UK in 1921 where she planned to sell the poppies in London. The National Service of Remembrance, held at The Cenotaph in Whitehall on Remembrance Sunday, provides the nation with a physical reminder of all those who have served and sacrificed, with British and Commonwealth soldiers, sailors, airmen and women represented, together with members of the emergency services and civilians, ensuring that no-one is forgotten. Itprovides an opportunity to appreciatethe sacrifices of the Armed Forces community from the UK and across the Commonwealth, as well emergency services and volunteers who help during times of national crisis.

Our KS1 Remembrance Day Differentiated Reading Comprehension Activity will help children improve both their understanding of Remembrance Day and their literacy. As I worked, botanical forms, birds and small details crept in as a focus of calm amidst the disruption of time and personal space.

Since it creation and first showing at the European Patchwork Meeting this piece has accompanied others in the 40 Yards series as they have grown and been exhibited in a variety of galleries and places in the last two years including an old army barracks in Parc Theodore Monad, France under the invitation of the City of Le Mans and more recently at the Farnham Pottery.

From laying Remembrance Day poppy wreaths to watching parades, there are lots of ways that people in Britain commemorate Remembrance Day each year. Peter Kennard and Cat Phillipps began working together under the name kennardphillipps in 2002, collaborating to produce art that responded to the build up to and aftermath of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. When the Hall of Remembrance works were put on display in 1919 by the Imperial War Museum, the public reaction to them was mostly positive. Brothers Sydney and Richard Carline were employed as official war artists by the Imperial War Museum during the First World War, each tasked with documenting aerial warfare.

As the schemes grew, they ultimately explored every aspect of conflict, from the violence of industrial warfare to hastened social and economic change at home. Working on top of a base of plastic sheeting to protect the table, large pieces of fabrics are laid down as a foundation.

Baraka Blue has taken his place as the leading exponent of Sufi inspired verse in the English language and the clear successor to the late Daniel Abdal Hayy Moore who virtually invented the genre.

This is reflected in his unique Remembrance Poppy themed works, displayed exclusively throughout this site. His most popular Remembrance Poppy Art painting to date is 'Miss you too mate', which was 'liked' by over 100,000 people and shared more than 10,000 times on Facebook when it was painted back in January 2017. His work become more naturalistic as the war progressed because he felt compelled to visually report what he witnessed. The plastic-free poppy is created from bespoke red and green paper manufactured by specialist papermaker James Cropper. It creates awareness not only of the historical conditions that have led to exclusion, degradation and destruction, but also of our responsibility for ensuring that these processes – created and influenced by people – do not repeat themselves.During Remembrance people stop to remember those who have served and sacrificed, from armed forces and emergency services to civilians, whilst hoping for a peaceful future.
