About this deal

A Ranger completes a few different activities to enable Leaders to get to know them as well as introduce them to the Ranger programme and rangatahi in the Unit. Once they have completed these activities a Ranger Promise Ceremony takes place and they receive their Promise Badge. Hemming tape is normally used to make sleeves and trouser legs shorter (which might be useful if your uniform is bit too big)butit can be used for putting badges onto uniform as well. It’saround the same price as fabric glue and comes in a roll that can be cut or ripped into strips.Cover it with a damp tea towel andusea hot ironon asteam settingto attach the badge to the fabric.Make sure to get help from an adult to do this! All girls should have a uniform top and bottom chosen from the Brownie uniform range. These can be worn for unit meetings, trips and events where formal uniform is needed.

If pledging your allegiance to God and the Queen wasn’t enough this song had you skipping about singing: “We’re joined together in our wish to try to do our best.” What a tune, right? A little bit pledge of allegiance vibes, yeah, but who cares – it’s Brownies! 2. Walking through an archway to become an official Brownie In working towards this award, Rangers will develop leadership, teamwork, communication, and life skills, and experience the enjoyment and satisfaction of reaching goals.Interest badges are for a Guide to plan and complete herself. The interest badges are designed to allow rangatahi to explore topics and activities, and to challenge themselves to improve skills in areas of interest. We encourage members to wear a uniform to show they’re part of the Girlguiding family. Brownies wear a top and a pair of bottoms. Community Action is volunteering; it’s about making a positive contribution or change. It further builds on Rangers volunteering with extended practical action in their community. To minimise costs for families and remove the need to buy a new shirt when changing sections, a single style and colour of shirt has been sourced, which can be worn across all girl sections.

Rangatahi can complete Interest Badges at home. There are 6 different badges to choose from and each badge has a range of activities to choose from. Rangatahi get to go on different adventures, learn about all types of animals, be creative using different mediums, spend time and learn about their family, learn about and participate in different sports, and learn about different ways of cooking. Badges can be attached to her uniform – the promise badge, which she’ll get after making her Brownie promise, should be on the left-hand side and all other badges can be attached where she chooses. Macpac has a loyalty group in all Macpac stores that entitles all members of GirlGuiding New Zealand 30% off RRP on Macpac branded products. The traditional way to attach badges to uniform is to sew them on.It’sthe cheapest way to do it and will never leave a mark on your uniform when you take the badge off to put on a camp blanket. And it’s not as hard as it sounds!

1. The songs

This was one of my absolute favourite moments because if it wasn’t you being initiated you would hold the hand of your pal joining your six, going to Brown Owl, introducing the newest member that wants to join your Brownie unit. That responsibility is next to none in my opinion. Not only are you a Sixer but now you’re walking hand in hand up an archway for someone to make their promise. Chills.
