About this deal

The Eiffel Tower is split up into 3 main sections, and each box is fully self-contained, so this is technically a “Build Together” set, and you can share the joy of building with up to 2 other friends, which I recommend as it drastically cut down the build time, and mount of repetition by sharing the load. I think though it shows the ingenuity and brilliance of being able to make this out of Lego with the current selection of parts a available. We don’t need the corresponding parts you mention when solutions are already present. "

Eiffel Tower was such a pleasant surprise, and I liked it a lot more than I initially thought I would. After seeing it in person in Billund, I was of course impressed by the height and scale, but came away fearing that the build would be bland, torturous and repetitive. The parts in10307 Eiffel Tower Things start out with building the legs for the 2nd level. The basic construction is very similar to the lower legs, starting out with a square plate base with Technic beam bracing. The first major repetitive task comes with adding the greenery. There are 8 small and 8 large trees and 48 street lamps to be placed. In total, 432 of Plant Flower Plate Round 1 x 1 with 5 Petals are used. Here’s a look at the second platform, where you’ll notice the use of new dark grey sausages for the arcs.

From the first bag, I was captured and hooked, and the anticipation in seeing this massive model come together was very enjoyable, and a testament to Rok Zgalin Kobe’s immense talent and efforts. Like the Titanic, I can see this set doing really well with fans, and those wanting a LEGO experience like no other that befits the LEGO Icons branding. Proving once and for all that price-per-part is a pointless metric, the World Map remains the record-holder for the most pieces in a LEGO set. Whether it is mind numbing, or relaxing is up to you. The record of 5922 parts was held for a long time by the 10189 Taj Mahal from 2008. In 2017, the 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon set a new record of 7541 parts. It took 3 years before the 10276 Colosseum broke that record with 9036 parts, only to lose it to 10294 Titanic with 9092 parts the following year. That last record was set with a margin of just 56 parts; the model we’re looking at today sets the record by a much larger margin: the 10307 Eiffel Tower goes to 5 digits with 10,001 parts! Where the Titanic was the longest model ever with 135cm, the Eiffel Tower goes upwards to a record 149.8cm high, with a 58x58cm footprint.

Box Impressions

That is because, much like with 10276 Colosseum, 10307 Eiffel Tower is a mighty LEGO set in every way, which means it asks of you a mighty effort to build. This is in every way possible, from fine placement and attention to detail in every step and in the precise angles and positioning of numerous pieces, through to applying the right discipline and mindset to simply get through what is such an extensive construction process. 10307 Eiffel Tower is, quite clearly, a remarkable feat of LEGO engineering serving, in such a way, as a beautiful and unique tribute to its source material. But it’s also quite obviously a beast of a LEGO set that will ask of you a great deal of money, time, dedication and focus. Finally, a word on color. Did you notice anything about all the sets above? They all use either light or dark grey to portray the tower. And that’s not correct! In fact, it’s never been grey ! Since 1968 the tower has been painted in what’s called “Eiffel Tower Brown”. I get why LEGO has needed to opt for grey elements, but it does downgrade the accuracy of every model a fair bit. The center of the room is dominated by a large beam from the tower structure. This sub-build attaches to the floor via the yellow clips on that 2×2 turntable I mentioned earlier. The connection is pretty firm, and the beam will survive the jostling it’ll endure as the other apartment furnishings go in. Coolness [5]– One of the world’s best known landmarks, at this scale, made out of LEGO. Doesn’t get any cooler than that While it suffers from a high price-per-part, this is a physically large set with really fun play features.
