The most obvious reason to begin to explore tantra through books is you can learn on your own terms, without needing to find a local teacher. You can start your journey of tantra from the comfort of your own home.

In the case of PV, in Travis Bradford’s book he suggests that every time the accumulated volume of solar photovoltaics panels that has ever been produced has doubled the cost has fallen by about 18 percent. Today this number is thought to be nearer 20 percent but he got the number basically right over ten years ago. That means, if solar panel production is growing at 40 percent a year—which is what solar has done for the last fifty years—very roughly the cost will go down by 20 percent every two years—indefinitely—in a relatively smooth decline. And that’s happened with batteries as well. The Planet Remade is set against climate change but broadened to include bold and controversial proposals to manipulate the biosphere actively. This book goes into the sources of your energy. It explains the original power that you have ‘received’. Minke de Vos teaches Tantra and Taoist Arts to women all over the world. This book mixes theory with a plethora of exercises and practices to get you understanding your feminine energy. The book covers all stages of life from puberty and youth through womanhood, pregnancy and to menopause. The book is based on the Taoist Traditions of the Yellow Emperor and the three female advisers who taught him all about the art of sexual energy and practice. The practices honour our natural feminine energy: to be receptive, soft, sensitive, intuitive and creative, and to use these qualities as a powerful tool to manifest our destiny. Minke teaches how to channel our natural sexual energy and to heal deep-rooted emotions, so that we are no longer controlled by our feelings and these don’t interfere in our sexual lives. Notwithstanding the occasional discussions on current issues and what the future may hold - mostly connected to pollution and the climate - this is a history book. The author will not discuss the most obvious topics - like why innovations exploded in a particular part of the world or the factors that led to their accumulative pace. To a degree, the absence of opinions and value judgments makes for a relatively drab and detail-heavy account.

I read this book at the same time as Smil's Energy and Civilization. It proved to be a good compliment to Smil's book but left me feeling pretty disappointed at the same time. I wanted more from this book than it had to offer. Maybe I would have favored it more if I had not read at the same time as Smil's masterpiece. A good overview of the changes in human energy use from the Elizabethan period through to the present. Rhodes surveys the rise and fall of muscle, water, steam and electricity, of wood, coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear, wind and solar in turn. Each gets capsule histories of varying lengths, summarizing the circumstances of their rise and the major figures and events involved in the major inventions. It is full of interesting anecdotes and asides that add enormous flavour to the stories. It is written in a manner that would be entertaining to a layperson as well as an engineer or scientist. I am familiar with the principles through my professional life, but still I learned so much. I had to keep “rewinding” it to hear the numerous gems again. In modern times, the idea of dark feminine energy has been explored in literature and popular culture. Many books and movies feature female characters who embody this energy, using their power to challenge traditional gender roles and societal norms. For example, the character of Lisbeth Salander in Stieg Larsson’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is a prime example of a woman who embodies dark feminine energy. Psychological PerspectivesEvery drop of water, every particle of energy build up that ocean. Everything you think, do and feel is reflected in your life because energy flows within and without. Do you want to live consciously where every action is a choice a conscious decision of what you do what you feel, what you think. Or do you want to be swept out like a little boat in the ocean with big waves, From a psychological perspective, dark feminine energy can be seen as a manifestation of the unconscious mind. This energy represents aspects of the psyche that are often repressed or ignored, such as anger, aggression, and sexuality. By tapping into this energy, individuals can gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world.

Sexuality: Tantra views sexuality as a sacred act that can be used to connect with the divine. Tantric sex is a way of slowing down and savouring the experience of intimacy. However, he also points out that the the invention of the Haber-Bosch process in the first decades of the twentieth century enabled the world to convert fossil fuels into nitrogen-based agricultural fertiliser and he calls this geoengineering as well. The application of artificial fertiliser to fields expanded the total amount of energy from food that’s available to the planet’s inhabitants. In turn, that loosened the Malthusian constraints on the world’s population. Smil has shown that before the use of fossil fuels for such things as fertiliser energy availability per person was only a few kilowatt hours a day.We here in the UK have a different perspective, of course. When we need energy, the sun generally isn’t shining. For the bulk of the world, solar is pretty good. But, everywhere is going to need storage. It’ll either be storage in the form of things like concentrating solar power, which is where the sun heats a liquid or fluid of some form during the day and that heat — we’re talking about hundreds of degrees centigrade here — is used at night to create steam to drive a turbine. That is being taken up in various parts of the world, such as Morocco, South Africa, China, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. That’s a way of capturing the sun’s energy during the day and using it at night. Second, tantra is not for everyone. If you’re not comfortable with your body or with the idea of exploring your sexuality, then tantra may not be right for you.

But the oil picture has changed, hasn’t it? Now the great majority of the world’s oil is not owned by private corporations but by states, notably Saudi Arabia and Russia and a few others. Bearing in mind the concept of a major transition away from oil, does Yergin take account of a topic beloved of some environmentalists: the idea of a carbon bubble, that is, the idea that we actually now have more oil that we can safely use?

Spiritual beliefs: Your existing spiritual beliefs may influence your choice of a tantra book. Some books approach tantra from a more traditional or religious perspective, while others take a secular or philosophical approach. Choose a book that aligns with your spiritual worldview. In The Switch, you present the astonishingly rapid fall in the cost of solar but you also say that it’s not the only part of the equation. To some extent other renewable energy technologies must play a role. And, crucially, even in the brightest scenario — to coin a foolish phrase — the sun only shines some of the time. So, you’ve got to have storage technologies, particularly in northern and extreme southern latitudes I suppose. Even in India, the sun doesn’t shine at night. As sensible human beings, we need to think about what happens if we cannot pull down our fossil fuel use fast enough. ” There are many great books available that explore the concept of dark feminine energy. These books offer valuable insights into the power of the feminine principle and the ways in which it can be harnessed for personal growth and transformation. This book aims to help people achieve an individual well-being. It gives clear advice on how to do it. It is written as a self-help book helping to bring balance and harmony to our body and mind.
