About this deal

That said, we actually think this is a better practice bike frame mount rather than a competition-worthy option.

The cage is longer than your typical water bottle cage. Fortunately, it comes with quite a degree of flexibility where you place it on the down tube (or seat tube) Between the arms was 1.2w slower at 40kph and 0.5w at 30kph, but the fastest location was behind the saddle at 0.7w (40kph) and 0.3w (30kph) - 20sec over an IM bike leg.

This is also another self-contained hydration system that is mounted on the front in a torpedo position. While not the flagship model, the FC System offers more than enough value, though it is a bit more expensive than most. Convenience Designed Fork: SuperSix EVO Carbon, integrated crown race, 12x100mm Syntace thru-axle, flat mount disc, internal routing, 1-1/8″ to 1-1/4″ Delta steerer, 55mm offset (51-54cm), 45mm offset (56-61cm) Inviscid Design has come out with a great riff on this idea called the Speedfil A2. Read my review of that product for more specifics. Basically, it's a module that replaces the screw-on top of a standard bottle. It's easy to refill on the fly, and has a built-in straw. Because it's a little more complex than just a standard bottle, it takes a little more care to set it up in the optimal position. But if you take the time to do so, it's a great system (and the one that's currently sitting on my bike for all my rides). Another AWESOME product of this ilk is the Profile Design HC Bottle, which is currently my go-to BTA product. Now, I find myself thinking of bottles. It seems to me that there's only two options here: either I get 2 standard/ww bottle cages, or I go for the Elite Crono CX bottles. There may be other options, but either they're not very popular, or I just didn't find them.

This is great in case you want to keep your hydration and your nutrition separate, or if you prefer to have a bottle for cooling off mid-race. In comparison with a 500mL standard bottle fixed on the downtube, the power you have to produce when riding can be reduced. Let’s see a comparison of the watts saved by different solutions for hydration on the bike: Rank Continuing the ‘aero is everything’ mantra Cannondale took a fresh look at bottle and bottle cage integration on the new SuperSix EVO, seeing an opportunity to enhance the aerodynamics of the bike even further. The new ReGrip Aero cages paired with Cannondale’s Gripper Aero water bottles actually help make the bike faster; these new bottles and cages create a more streamlined profile in combination with the SuperSix EVO’s chassis and improve aerodynamic efficiency thanks in no small part to the Gripper Aero bottle’s flat sides. There’s no worries when it comes to compatibility though; conventional water bottles fit the cages too, so if you’re taking mid-race hand-ups in the feed zone there won’t be any issues. According to this study, an aero water bottle can save 1.6 to 3.9 Watts compared to a normal 500mL water bottle mounted on the downtube. However, the benefits are negligible below 19mph (30km/h). The true benefits only show if you ride at 25mph (40km/h) or above.

Fork: SuperSix EVO Carbon, integrated crown race, 12x100mm Syntace thru-axle, flat mount disc, internal routing, 1-1/8″ to 1-1/4″ Delta steerer, 55mm offset (48-54cm), 45mm offset (56-61cm)

Today’s product launch sees a small range of 4 th generation Cannondale SuperSix EVO road bikes and framesets split into two different sub-groups, categorised by their frame material and construction technique, with the SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod bikes sitting above the SuperSix EVO Carbon bikes. Cannondale’s SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod frames shave over 100 grams from the conventional Carbon frames by replacing multiple layers of intermediate modulus fibres with fewer layers of much stiffer high modulus fibres, taking overall weight down while retaining all the stiffness and strength required for a responsive, brilliantly-handling race bike. Handlebar: Cannondale SystemBar R-One – low drag, full carbon integrated bar/stem, internal routing Aero bottles are a great place to store concentrated nutrition. Swap to a standard cage for longer training rides. A 500ml round bottle is very common especially in triathlon events where you may get a bottle handup from an aid station. A smaller bottle like this can also be placed in multiple locations around the bike. In this test we found that the worst place to keep a 500ml round bottle was one of the more convenient: on the downtube! This cost 5.0w at 40kph, or 2.1w at 30kph. Over an Ironman bike leg at 5hr30min speed (32.7kph) this would be a 2min5sec penalty.

In around a month I will have my new bike (an SL6), and my intention has been to make it "aero with judgement". What I mean is, whenever aero gains could be made relatively easily and without compromising too much else, I would go for them.

With ultra-aware road racing fans hooked up to social media 24/7 and with training rides, race results and spy shots of prototype bikes all being shared and going viral instantly it’s now almost impossible to keep a soon-to-be-released road bike secret. Factor in just such a bike winning at the very first World Tour race of the season at the Tour Down Under and you may as well hit ‘publish’ on the carefully crafted marketing material there and then instead of waiting patiently until launch day. The Gorilla XT is the primary cage that the overwhelming majority of XLAB rear mounted hydration systems use. Light and Strong

Saddle Bottles

The new Delta steerer tube design allows for seamless integration of the bike’s cables while keeping the frontal area slim and aerodynamic. In fact, were it not for the fact that it does not come with a cage or mount and is heavier than the competing XLAB model, this would be the best performing frame mounted hydration system. Cannondale’s ultimate speed machine, the SystemSix is their dedicated aero road bike and they’ve used this bike in their comparison with the new SuperSix EVO to give us a better understanding of what they’ve achieved. Cannondale say they have been able to make the new SuperSix EVO 400 grams lighter than the Gen 3 version AND at the same time make it more aerodynamic than its predecessor; at 45km/h the EVO Gen 4 has a reduction of 12 watts over the Gen 3 EVO, getting you within 10 watts of Cannondale’s full-on SystemSix aero road bike. Oh and it’s worth mentioning too that the SuperSix EVO is almost a whole kilo lighter than the SystemSix too. If that all sounded a little complicated, the headline is simple – Cannondale have created the LIGHTEST fastest road bike available. Still, the Torpedo Versa 200 makes room in an already crowded market by providing pretty much everything that the Torpedo Versa 500 does at a lower cost. Give and Take
