About this deal

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia has courted controversy on various issues by promoting QAnon conspiracy theories, alongside a history of anti-Muslim and anti-Semitic remarks. Years-old views, including a Facebook interaction in which she agreed with a comment that the Parkland shooting was a "false flag" staged event, and a video in which she pushed 9/11 conspiracy theories, have been unearthed. We end with a pretty bleak analysis in the book. The conspiracy mongers “will never stop because they never have.” But is there a way to combat this? The Rothschilds have largely opted for “no comment.” What can our tactic be? Neither of those comments express animus for Jews, per se. But by claiming that shadowy powerful forces are distorting US policy on behalf of the world’s only Jewish state, she (seemingly unintentionally) provided rhetorical cover for anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. It’s why David Duke, the virulently anti-Semitic former grand wizard of the KKK, tweeted that “Omar is right ... about Israel.” Comments from mainstream leaders that seem to validate an extremist’s worldview give the extremists an opportunity to spread their ideas. A patient and painstaking invalidation of antisemitism that also highlights its perniciousness. ” –Publishers Weekly

Audiobook) The tongue-in-cheek title of the book notwithstanding, this is actually a serious analysis of the Rothschild family, from the facts of their lives to the perception and false stories that have dominated society for the better part of 3 centuries. The actual Rothschild family got their start as a family of German-based Jews that managed to make a living in the finance world, one where they managed to gain a significant amount of wealth and influence. Yet, that success and influence was forever conflated into some of the most elaborate and vile conspiracy theories out there. It’s interesting that a lot of traditionalist, pro-Europe “return” guys would also be anti-Rothschild, even though they’re kind of consummate Europeans. The Rothschilds were definitely the most conspicuous, the most visible, they have their palaces everywhere, they had their art collections, they have their names on all sorts of hospitals and philanthropic organizations. So as the Jewish Diaspora brought many Jews over to the United States, they carried that knowledge of the Rothschilds with them, far outstripping the actual impact of the Rothschilds in the United States. The Rothschilds have always been a beacon of hope. They’ve always been an example of a family that persevered through hardship, through discrimination, through antisemitism, and not only grew in stature, but kept their Judaism. Most people don’t quite fathom that the vast majority of Jews, particularly in Eastern Europe, were impoverished. They had nothing, and they constantly had governmental or societal or religious forces who were trying to take even that away from them. These are a group of people who are barely allowed to exist. And so they see the Rothschilds and they don’t look at them as string-pullers. They looked at them as “One day this could be us.”For many Jews," says Mike Rothschild, "the Rothschilds have been a beacon of hope in dark times, a reminder that anything is possible with unity and a steadfast devotion to family and tradition."

The books is very interesting, well-written, and provides useful information for those who wish to counter-argue people who spout these falsehoods.

Sources covered by Mike Rothschild are varied and he tells us that he is not creating a bibliography to guide our reading. He also tells us that the contents of some of these materials are distasteful and often almost incomprehensible. He is saving us the effort of reading hate-filled ranting. He discusses a 1947 film called Gentlemen's Agreement which he describes as a blunt examination of the banal nature of antisemitism in upper-class America. But this source is mild compared to others. He tells us in some detail about the activities of the poet Ezra Pound. Then we learn about Pound's acolyte, Eustace Mullins (born in 1923) Mullins wrote The Secrets of the Federal Reserve which was finally published with that title in 1983. He wrote a pamphlet entitled, Adolf Hitler: An Appreciation, and another called The Biological Jew, Murder by Injection: The Medical Conspiracy Against America. Mullins," says the author, "bridged the gap between Pound and Alex Jones." Omar engaged in factually questionable rhetoric that echoed ugly tropes in a way that maybe helped some bad actors spread their ideas. Greene outright endorsed a series of obscenely outlandish conspiracy theories, some relating to Jews and some not. This is the crucial thing to understand about anti-Semitism: It is both bigotry and an explanatory framework. Jews aren’t just detestable people, in the anti-Semite’s mind; they are the force responsible for all that is bad in the world. After Christianity’s conquest of the Roman Empire and Europe, blaming the Jews for the world’s ills — from war to famine to pandemic — became a persistent feature of the European social environment.
