About this deal

During his travels, Gulliver searched in vain for the marvellous world of Celestia. In the steps of this storied adventurer, start your journey to celestial cities as mysterious as the treasures they hide. Sushi Go! is a game of building a delicious sushi meal out of adorable pieces of food with faces! It's extremely cute (if you don't think about it too hard) and super-simple. Everyone starts with a big hand of cards, from which you take one and pass the rest to the player next to you. Every player does the same, so you'll be given a new and slightly smaller hand that you'll again take one card from before passing it on – this continues until you've run out of cards, then you'll add up the points from the cards in front of you, and go for another round. If the passenger feels that the captain will not be able to overcome the challenges shown by the dice, he declares « I will leave ».

No. In the current format, with so few extra cards relative to the base game, the opportunity to play these special cards seems a little infrequent. So you all club together, making decisions on what you can triage this turn to avoid disaster, but equally trying to work which cities you can risk leaving in a precarious state, because you're running out of time to trade cards and find the cures. It's a great collective experience, and one you can blast through to victory in half an hour.

Leaving game design to one side, the game’s components are robust and well made. The airship I mentioned at the start of the review looks great on the tabletop, manned with meeples. It even comes with some spare parts. After many uses I’m thinking of gluing mine together as it is starting to fall apart a little. Yes. The rowboat is a very sweet touch. Lovers of Celestia with its gorgeous artwork will warm to this little boat. It adds to the chances to progress, and even more so with our new local-rules amendment. Caution: The captain shall NOT play the "Equipment" cards immediately after rolling the dice. He must wait for the passengers to decide whether they want to stay aboard or not. If a player’s cards are poor and felt unlikely to be helpful, a player may exchange all or some of their cards for the same number of new ones. This must be played before the dice are rolled. Any player, including the captain, can use this cards ability football stop this allows a possible disaster to turn into an opportunity in. “If You Don’t Want Me Set Me Free” Orville is a great captain. He has a "Compass" card and a ''Lightning arrester'' card. He plays these two cards and he and Amelia continue to the next city. Ambroise watches the aircraft fly away since he got off.

Love Letter's theme (of being suitors of a princess) is very thinly layered on, maybe because it wouldn't be as appealing to depict what this game really is: a brutal series of two-minute knife-fights.

Were I to compare Celestia to one other game, I feel the most apt comparison would be Texas Hold Em’. Despite not being a board game in it’s own right, the collective urge to manipulate and use people into making your joint task more profitable before bullying them out entirely is very much what each and every game of Celestia is all about. With this expansion players might be able to jump into a lifeboat. Now they are masters of their own destiny. This little craft has room for just one. Irrespective of whether the main boat crashes or succeeds, the player claiming the little lifeboat must roll their own dice and play their own cards. Their trouble is now of their own making. Your ability to influence your own success in this game is therefore limited. The best thing you can do to prepare for Celestia is to play poker with your friends for a couple of months. This will help you read their tells and work out when they’re lying. This makes the game a great leveller for the less tactically-minded amongst us, but also means it can feel frustrating and shallow. If the captain is able to overcome the challenges (using "Equipment" cards), the journey goes on; otherwise the aircraft crashes.
