I picked the big silver one up a while back in the classifieds and it really does have loads of squish. Designed to emulate the famed Ross analog comps from the 1980s, Joyo's rendition gives a subtle flavoring to your sound that even the most ardent of anti-pedal proponents can get behind. So essentially there's two sides to this fella – on one hand, it keeps your sonic peaks under control and secures a well-rounded sound even if you strum too hard at moments. If playing with a little bit more distortion, you'll find the pedal makes your riffs a little more prominent and clearer. haha I mean I think I have a reasonable handle on what compression is, how it works and what it's for, and the joyo one is definitely in the subtle camp (or at least a lot more subtle than, say, a boss cs3). Level – As an obligatory part of pretty much every guitar pedal we can think of, the Level knob – also know as Mix of Volume – controls the level of the given effect that gets injected into the audio mix. However you choose to use your compressor you'll be pleased with the JF-10, it is an excellent value compressor, worth every penny. It's footprint seems slightly larger than your average pedal, and you'll have to rip off the rubber bottom if you want to velcro it to your board.
