About this deal

This is the fourth speaker that I owned of their since the other 3 speakers either had the base blown out or started skipping. Therefore, most ribbon drivers have an impedance matching transformer in the crossover to give a higher impedance to the power amplifier. This driver configuration results in some interesting sound presentations, which we’ll discuss further below. CONNECT ALL YOUR DEVICES: Connect your phone, tablet or PC via Bluetooth with aptX and A2DP support. This allows two Exos-9 speakers to be wirelessly connected for audio mirroring or true L/R stereo—with the added benefit of even more volume.

Have owned both a Denon and Marantz portable PA system for use strictly as a Bluetooth portable speaker for music playback when teaching a exercise class. I like peeking inside and taking a look at what components lurk there, and the quality of those components. If you put that all together, you’ll realize that it’s not the most portable of speakers and there’s a reason for that. AIWA EXOS 9 vs Edifier E25 Luna – Edifier has made an interesting small stereo speaker setup for just 200 USD with their Edifier Luna, but it isn’t exactly the most well-sounding setup, and for 200 USD, Yamaha Music Cast already provided a better sound, but it came to me to ask what the difference in sonics would be between the 200 USD Luna, and the 300 USD EXOS 9, and well, if you thought that having Stereo would be worth it, I think that isn’t the case at all. JBL Partybox 100 - Cheaper and smaller than the Partybox 310 while still reaching the same dB levels. If you're only interested in the Aiwa Exos-9 Review, please skip the small-form section below and go straight to large form.

You can either set them for simple two-channel stereo sound or have one play a summed (left + right) stereo signal. Even though the manual shows how the EQ arrows work, it’s still complicated so I just leave the EQ set to off. If Aiwa can add some built-in water protection and some additional smart connection options like Alexa, AirPlay or Google Play, the Exos-9 could come close to that perfect all-in-one speaker. Well, to say the least, it would be subjective to sticky my perspective and opinions on how the Exos-9 sounds. I will be honest here, I have unboxed EXOS 9 and had a lot of fun doing so, but I couldn’t really take any photos, because the speaker itself was really big, and the package was even larger.

However, its lack of current technologies like AirPlay, Google Cast, or a built-in voice assistant make it tough to recommend to those looking to create a multi-room audio system in the home. Pair that with Class D bi-amplification, active and passive crossovers, and a bass reflex port and this thing seems capable of producing some killer sound.

The Exos-9 is the only portable bluetooth speaker that boasts 5 active speaker drivers, including a 6. Because the voice coil is attached to the driver's cone, this magnetic field pulls the cone back and forth, generating sound. If you’re after a speaker that fits this description I’d recommend looking at the Turtlebox 2 or Soundboks Go. The Exos-9 speaker housing is made of plastic, which doesn’t instill much confidence if accidentally dropped—and I didn’t want to test it. The app provides detailed information about the speaker's specifications, including its size, weight, battery life, connectivity options, and other essential features. We've proudly resurrected the iconic Aiwa brand in the passionate pursuit of bringing people together around music. Near the top is a monochrome LED panel that shows EQ settings that are controlled from the top panel mentioned earlier.
