Luckily for me, a turning point in this study abroad experience came through one of my best friends that I made on that trip, as she was doing a school project at my house. Those are both amazing northern(-ish) cities, but there's a different feel to southern Europe, a bit of an expressive personality and excitement. Too many years spent traipsing Veneto for work and then escaping to the Amalfi Coast for a dose of Vitamin D means that I have had my fair share of amore all’italiana .

You might not think of spas when you think of Italy, but the thermal springs that pop up in some of Italy’s mountainous and volcanic areas have got to be the best way to relax on an Italian vacation. From the historical centers of Rome and Florence to the dramatic Amalfi Coast and the breathtaking Cinque Terre, each site tells a unique story and showcases the incredible diversity and beauty of Italy.But I also have an Italian father, brother, uncles, cousins, husband, and now two sons, so I get why it’s easy to fall in love with Italian men.

Other countries may be Mediterranean, or have old churches and ruins, or old buildings, or great sculptures, but they are different.Dolce Vita and the art of living, here is why I fall in love with Italy, again and again, every time I visit it. I needed a getaway, and Mr Fletche found an all-inclusive hotel nestled up in the hills above Sorrento. There is still so much you have not seen in Italy and anyway the final unification of Italy was not until 1871, so you can pretend you are visiting different countries within Italy.

Whilst I’m aware people have coffee hot, it’s too hot and also the full fat milk has reached the burning temperature, meaning it’s ruined the whole coffee- basic as coffee would not recommend. I couldn't believe how pleasant a car-less city could be -- not just a fenced-off medieval center like many European cities have but really the whole place. Also one of the most fascinating cities on the planet, endearing villages, intriguing history, gorgeous natural beauty, and excellent train system(s).The lakes at the foot of the Alps are spectacular and are close enough for day or overnight trips to Switzerland.
