About this deal

The story is caught up with the far-reaching ramifications of Istvaan III as I mentioned and by extent the first three novels. They succeed in defeating the Plague Marines but one of Garro's squad, Solun Decius, receives a poisoned wound from their weapons. Some issues with the story; Death Guard and characterization, beyond Mortarion or Typhon, I actually found the character boring.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Something impressive about the series so far has been the ability of different authors to pick up the baton left by others, with events, characters, and themes extending over several books. This story rewinds a bit from the end of book 3 and then picks up events that coincide with Horus' treacherous activities. Before Grulgor and his men can make their move Garro is contacted by Saul Tarvitz, an Emperor's Children Captain he had formed a friendship with during a previous conquest. Once we're all back on the titular Eisenstein and ready to go this book never looks back and never lets up. The escape from the Istvaan system was awesome, and the journey through the warp and battle with Grulgor's men/Nurglings was fun as hell.

Dark and atmospheric, Flight of the Eisenstein also deals with some interesting developments – how do other legions than the Sons of Horus react to the Warmaster’s betrayal? The story follows on directly from the horrors of the massacre at Istavaan III, where loyalist legions are slaughtered by those whom follow Horus. The Flight of the Eisenstein is book four in the Horus Heresy series and it’s a dark, atmospheric and brooding tale. This said I definitely enjoyed the book, devouring it almost entirely in one train journey, and I'm looking forward to the next few installments in the series. Lots of trials and tribulations occur and some choice banter – including a situation with Life-Eater virus (which is used to exterminate… well… everything on Istavaan III) and soon after news of the betrayal arrives to Garro via a desperate Tarvitz.I genuinely feel ashamed about ever talking about the opening trilogy as the phenomenal first founding of this saga. His Marc Dane novels are fast-paced action thrillers featuring a former MI6 field officer turned private security operative; NOMAD is the first in the series, published in the US by Forge.
