About this deal

It shouldn’t be a shock that they’re willing to offer more than the standard smattering of keys or dance progressions, nor does it ever come from a feeling of obligation. Moving on to the album’s first single, “We Got the Moves,” this track is accompanied by a must-see music video, as the party has definitely started.

Their earlier work can easily be compared to that of Asking Alexandria and Motionless In White – undisputable metalcore with electronic enhancements and some absurd lyrics alongside the more poignant. The band started recording their second album at Kohlekeller Studios together with producer Kristian Kohlmannslehner in autumn of 2013. The vocals are annoying, the disparate elements of the music are all so brightly coloured that often they refuse to mix, instead talking loudly over each other like unfunny people who think the best bit of a joke is in how loudly you tell it. A cinematic beginning slowly builds up “Mindreader” just before the track builds on heavy riffings in a stomping Slipknot manner. The juxtaposition of the two core genres in this song set up the expectations for the rest of the album – and as the band have stated in the past, they’re working with genres they love – with the end result proving heavy metal and techno go hand in hand in a weird and wacky way. The sampling of course isn’t done in halves as warning alarms and ray guns can be subtly heard intertwined around thundering beats and riffs. Having not heard this one before, I wasn’t sure how to take it after the first few spins, but it essentially fits as an album filler to drive between the bangers and breakdowns.

Clocking in at ever so slightly over half an hour in its total length, it’s an album that flies by at breakneck speed, with no time for the listener to rest and catch their breath. On 8 July 2022, the band released the fourth single, "Fckboi", with the American metalcore band Conquer Divide. One of the reasons for this may have been that recently they have removed a lot of their older songs from streaming services due to offensive lyrics. Right now, I can imagine them flipping me off with a tiny hand on each finger (linked below, so you will know what the hell I am talking about), and I am so glad they didn’t take my advice.

If you prefer uptempo clubcore, then ‘ Arrow of Love‘ is going to hit you right in your stupid Cheshire grin sporting face. In these songs, it’s also refreshing to hear another language championed in metal and recognise Germany’s contributions to the genre that aren’t ‘Du Hast’. But onto "Tekkno" and this is a really fun, outlandish, rollercoaster of an album that really has set them apart from anything that is out there at the moment. To say their past material has been spotty at best is as kind as it’s possible to be, and it’s not like Hypa Hypa or its subsequent follow-ups have represented a gigantic uptick in quality or reputability. On 17 November 2012, the band announced after a concert in Düsseldorf that they were parting ways with their drummer Michael Maletzki; he was replaced by David Friedrich. Putting a focus on the punky riffs, it opens with Nico’s clean vocal section drawing us in with his alluring performance and evolves into an unexpected love song about falling for a girl whose friends think you’re a, well, read the song title again! They’re still a band who rely deeply on a gimmick of blending cheesy, sugary Eurodance with standard-issue Warped Tour metalcore, i.
