About this deal

The EDC light can be operated using the all-inclusive tail switch to turn the light on and off and cycle through the modes by tapping the switch. Alternatively the head of the E12 V2 can be tightened and loosened to cycle through the modes if that suits you better.

The only way to do a good clip is to screw it onto the body, or have it sit in-between the battery tube and tailcap with a metal ring. Clip-on clips don’t work. And two-way clips don’t work.Low: 5 lumens. Not bad – a solid jump down from medium. Since we’re going low I wouldn’t mind this being just one or two lumens, but it works.

Receive a unit of Fenix E12 v2.0 from Fenixlight a few weeks ago (together with Fenix TK11 Tac and Fenix E28R) for testing. Now on to the threads – as I said above only the head is removable. One of the nice features is the threads, and in particular how they interface with the head. The head sits down over the body in such a way that getting the threads to grab goes very smoothly. Much more so than most other lights. I can’t point to exactly why, except to say it’s because of how the head flairs on the body side. The threads are square-cut, anodized, well lubed, and moderately long. When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. To ensure normal use, the flashlight will not turn off automatically and will work till the battery runs out completely. Still, it wouldn’t hurt anything to have this light turn on in High, and it wouldn’t have cost Fenix anything extra. I don’t understand that decision.A low voltage warning function will gradually reduce the output until low is reached if the battery voltage is no longer sufficient to support the current brightness level, and will remain in low until the batteries are completely drained or replaced. The Fenix E12 LED light is a good investment if you want a flashlight that will last for a very long period of time. This is because it is sturdily constructed from durable aircraft-grade aluminum, which is a lightweight and strong metal. In addition, it has a type 3 hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish, which can resist corrosion and other tough conditions. The tail cap switch is designed in a way that it can protect the tail cap switch. If you intend to use the flashlight in a camp or something similar, you can make it stand on the tail cap and act like a candle.

Up front disclosure – this light was supplied for free for review. I received no other compensation.) The body doesn’t have much knurling so it can feel a little slippery. Keep in mind that we are talking about a very tiny flashlight, so most people don’t use it as their main work light. If you are an AA flashlight fan, read this review carefully. Most of the following measurements were taken directly from the runtime graph below, instead of the manual measurements, simply because I only have old data for some. So they can differ from the measurements in the review. Flashlight (and Link)Please take out the battery if the flashlight will not be used for a long time, or it may cause damage from electrolyte leakage or battery explosion. The tailswitch boot button is covered by 2 protruding lanyard hole design and the boot is recessed enough for tail-standing. I wish Fenix E20 v2.0 has the same design though... The original Fenix E12 has possibly the weakest feature-set of any flashlight I’ve reviewed here to date. Today we look at the updated Fenix E12 V2.0. The form-factor has undergone a major overhaul, but has the rest of the light been brought up to speed? Fenix E12 V2.0

Here are a couple of runtimes. I don’t really note any low voltage protection, but the output is so low by the end there, that you’ll notice. Medium: 30 lumens. That is a very nice “in-between” setting, and about where I’d want a medium to be on this light. Fenix products are popular among outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, campers, law enforcement personnel, and military professionals due to their rugged construction, powerful output, and advanced features. The company is known for using top-tier materials and cutting-edge technology to ensure their products meet high-performance standards. As you can see, they are the same as a NiMH battery, like the white Eneloop AA used above. Runtime: Shown here alongside an Oveready BOSS 35 and a Fenix E01 V2. The E01 is not much smaller, and weighs just under an ounce. I’m not a huge fan of twisty interfaces, so I would almost always carry the E12 for the little bit of extra weight.

Additional Features of the Fenix E12

The head has minimal reeding for grip, but it’s sufficient. The head is what you’ll remove to swap the cell.
