Play your cards and swim as fast as you can, but don’t get tangled up or you could end up at the back of the pack! Ted's swimmer moves to the front next, because his card number does not tie either, and is a higher number than Anne's. Each player takes control of a Lego-like “dismember-man”, a plastic humanoid whose limbs represent lives left in the game. But you know what is significantly less terrifying than a giant shark destroying boats and eating humans?It can go faster if players play poorly, but even if players play well, the game will not last more than five or ten minutes. This is a thematic game but with modest components, so it works much better if you really get into it. A player is eliminated when all four of his or her robot’s limbs are removed, and the game continues until all players but two have been eliminated. I’m a big fan of distilled games–games that take interesting systems, boil out all of the unnecessary stuff that gets in the way of the core concept, and present a concentrated dose of exactly the kind of game you want to play.

Get Bit is played in rounds, which are divided into a three simple steps: play cards, move swimmers, and get bit! over and over again in a sitting, much the same way I feel like eating bowl after bowl of ice cream. Hence, for children it is possible to remove the strategic element and instead shuffle the cards and each player plays their top-most card.
