About this deal

PDF / EPUB File Name: Sober_On_A_Drunk_Planet_-_Sean_Alexander.pdf, Sober_On_A_Drunk_Planet_-_Sean_Alexander.epub A must read for anyone sober curious and thinking about a new life living alcohol free. I loved the sections on what alcohol does to the body, ie. depleting it of essential nutrients. Then using exercise we can restore dopamine and serotonin depleted by alcohol. The 3 steps are a great way to start or maintain the journey to recovery. I speak to the truly inspiring Hayley from @so.thirty on my IGTV series. She opens up about her diagnosis at a young age and how that contributed to her drinking heavily on nights out and using alcohol as a way to forget about the truth that she had to face. Rob shares his story about how he was watching a star is born on a flight whilst drinking two bottles of wine and that started the process in which he gave up for good. We talk about how rugby (he's a kiwi) and booze go hand in hand, how men get social anxiety as well and how stoicism is a great way to live life. A short read, just over 3h on Audible. I feel like this book wasn't written for me—that doesn't need to be a problem, but I think in this case it was a weakness. The book would be best-suited to folks who have a pretty serious drinking problem. The baseline he works against in the book is something like being drunk/hungover at least 3 days a week, spending hundreds of dollars each night out, vomiting, embarrassing oneself, etc. Therefore the argument is something like "drinking a lot is really costly, therefore one should quit drinking entirely".

Why you need to reframe the idea of 'giving up' – and how doing so will make all the difference to your success I have the privilege of speaking with Shannon who shares openly for the first time about his traumas and struggles growing up as a gay male in an adopted Southern Baptiste family. He speaks about how drugs and alcohol were his way of dealing with his trauma but he also shares the traumas that occurred as a result of drinking and drugging. I speak to Katie about her sober story, navigating life at 25 sober and how she has grown up with a parent in AA. We also discuss yoga teacher training, breathing techniques and we also do a live breathing technique you can use when you need to calm the flight or fight system down :)

Customer reviews

It's quite light hearted and doesn't really go into medical implementations but more the perception of alcohol vs the reality. There’s nothing revolutionary about the book. It’s mostly the good old truths we all mostly know, but have forgotten because we live in a world where a sober life isn’t the most easily accessible. He spends his spare time walking his puppy, practising Muay Thai, playing golf, going to the gym and enjoys doing all the things he couldn't do when he was hungover! I talk about my addiction to alcohol, drugs and gambling in a particularly dark time for me when I was 28 and how rehab saved my life. I talk about my experience of going to Alcoholics anonymous and doing the 12 step programme. I also talk about how I feel out of favour with the programme and found sobriety connection in other ways.

This week's guest is Leo, a DJ with his own record label, who has navigated life in hard mode and now chooses to stay sober so he can make the most of his life. We talk about life as a Dj, sober festivals and what he has learnt from previous sober attempts. I speak with Jason about getting sober in his late 40's. He speaks openly about depression, how drinking was a byproduct of the corporate world and how fitness was a big part of his recovery in sobriety. The author leans in heavily on weight and being ugly and fat when drinking. What a horrible message! Do not read this if you have any body and eating issues. There’s also data that supports if you give up alcohol you can be gravitated to sugar, so you may not loose weight at all. This weeks guest is Anthony, who is a personal trainer making the most of life without the booze. He is eight weeks sober and we catch up to find out more about his motivation to get sober, what life was like when he was drunk and how he has noticed powerful changes in only 8 weeks.I have found so many quotes and facts that resonate so personally which makes it even more enjoyable to read.

The most relatable and easy to understand, motivational book I have had the pleasure of reading today.... (In just one sitting too) I speak to Tia about her journey from party girl to attending alcoholics anonymous. We discuss our pre-conceptions of what we thought Alcoholics anonymous was but the surprising turn of events that helped us both become sober. I speak with Zach about running a multi-million-pound business, losing it to addiction and coming to terms with childhood trauma. We speak about his upbringing and how that shaped his addictive nature from an early age.Not only has giving up alcohol been transformational for her own health but also in her career. Listen in as we speak with the only sober recruitment consultant on the planet (probably!). The Sober On A Drunk Planet podcast follows the success of the book Sober On A Drunk Planet Book and Audio Series. Here we talk to amazing guests about their battles with alcohol and other drugs and how getting sober allowed them to live a life unimaginable when they were drunk or high (or both!).
